Importing Data Into Voter Gravity

Have you ever had problems getting different databases to talk to each other? Many campaigns run into problems with contact information or documents on only one platform or device and not another. In a fast-moving campaign environment, this can be a train wreck.

On top of that, it makes information significantly harder to find as you have to check in multiple places for it. For the same reasons, data tends to get lost or misplaced. One consolidated, integrated information center where all data is located — that can be accessed by anyone who needs it anywhere, anytime — is critical to leverage data to win elections.

That is why we have a simple way for you to integrate your information into Voter Gravity. Using the Voter Gravity platform, you can have all your information in one place, which keeps things like contacting donors or looking up volunteer information simple and streamlined. It only takes a few steps to import a file into Voter Gravity.

  1. In the Portal go to Voter Data > Data Import.
  2. Give the import a name, select a tag to add to the matched profiles (to add a new tag, first go to Manage > System Tags).
  3. Upload your file by clicking on the green “Select file” button the click Submit.
  4. Once the file is uploaded, you’ll see a screen where you can match fields from your file to fields in the database. This allows you to match fields that should give you a high match rate.
  5. Once you have matched the fields, Voter Gravity will attempt to match the contacts in your file with voter records already existing in the file. Once this process is complete, you’ll receive an email letting you know the matching process has finished.
  6. If you like, you can download a list of those records that did not match to a voter. You can review that file, clean up any records with obvious issues, or save them to manually match later.
  7. Once you have a file with an acceptable match rate, Voter Gravity will add the tags you selected to the voters in the database.
This process allows you to not only add tags to voter records, but phone numbers and email addresses as well.
